Every year and for quite some time now, Forbes publishes a list for the highest paid athletes in the World, combining the money they make from their winnings/salaries, as well as from their endorsements deals. That ranking list comprises 100 players names and is by far one of the most reliable databases in regard to how much money high-profile professional athletes really make per year. However and in order to have a different scope of analysis, our list was built by focusing exclusively on the salary/winnings component and by stripping off any money made from advertising and endorsements agreements. As a note of curiosity, by sorting this ranking list based on salaries/winnings, the best paid athlete in the World, Tiger Woods, falls heavily into the 82nd spot, while at the same time, the second best paid athlete, Roger Federer, drops to 91st. There’s also no soccer player making it to either the top 10 or top 20, since Cristiano Ronaldo paycheck from Real Madrid (salary + eventual winning/bonus in the past year), didn’t allow him to get beyond the 22nd place.
Important note: The following top list (ranking) is not based strictly on salaries, but also on particular revenues the athletes have made, like winning bonus, championships bonus, bonus for achieving targets and so on. The original salary values were provided in USD and we’ve used a USD/EUR fixed exchange rate to convert the amounts to Euros: EUR/USD: 1.30; USD/EUR: 1/1.30

this is just sad …. all this for kicking a ball around 1 year salary of this guys would be enough to feed an entire 3rhd world country for that year. …. I just do not wanna live on this planet anymore , Hmm I wonder how is Mars this time of the year? :)):(((
[…] Cristiano Ronaldo’s salary currenty allows him to earn 17 million euros per year, roughly 1.41 million euros per month. However and as explained by Goal.com, theranking list they have published this year accounts not only for the salaries earned by the players, but also for advertising agreements, merchandising, endorsements and other sort of revenues and incomes known to public. Having that in mind and knowing how “marketable” the whole Ronaldo brand is, it’s not hard to understand why the Real Madrid star comes out ranked on the top of a list containing the wealthiest football players in the World, even though he is in fact already one of the best paid athletes in sport (#22 according to FinanceNews24.com). […]

None of this is even close to accurate, sad that of all the top 25 lists you could have chose, this is one of the easiest to find valid information on. This is so inaccurate it’s almost as bad as saying Columbus discovered America. This needs to be changed because it is dumb how wrong and invalid it is.
